At 2048 Ventures, we are so excited to continue to foster the earliest stage Biotech startup ecosystem. Today, we are launching our first Biotech Competition to help and empower exceptional founders and scientists at the earliest part of their entrepreneurial journey.

The Biotech Competition gives you an incredible opportunity to kickstart your Biotech venture. The winner of the competition will receive $200K on an uncapped SAFE, and the runner up will get $50K. All other finalists will receive exclusive and nerdy 2048 Ventures Biotech Pitch Competition swag.

Who should participate?

• Any early stage Biotech startup that raised less than $2M in venture capital funding.
• Any scientist in academia or industry who is working on a startup or just an idea. You don’t need to be incorporated to apply, but will need to be in order to get funded.
• The startups and founders need to be located in the US, Canada, or UK.

How the Biotech Competition Works

• The application is open now!
• Our application is short, we ask for materials you already have.
• 1-2 min quick video pitch - no fancy editing skills or camera required!
• Share your deck, and answer a few questions.
• We are reviewing the applications on a rolling basis, and encourage early submissions.
• The final application deadline is March 12th, 2023 at 11:59PM EST, and we will not accept any late applications.
• First Round: Companies that advance to the first round will be notified by the end of March and will pitch virtually to our selection committee.
• Finals: Up to 10 companies will advance to the final round of pitches for the chance to win $200K grand prize. The final round will be also virtual, and will be judged by a panel of VCs, industry experts, and university faculty.
• The winners will be announced by the end of April.

I am still a student. Can I still participate?

Yes! We welcome and encourage students who are thinking about spinning out of Universities to apply. You don’t need to have a startup to apply, but you do need to be incorporated to receive the funding.
